The 1/4" ZWFR Freeze Relief Valve prevents damage from sudden or unexpected freezes on all major brands of Backflow Preventers and Pressure Vacuum Breakers installed above ground. Its durable, compact design requires no periodic maintenance and allows for easy, hassle-free installation. The Model ZWFR automatically opens at 35°F to discharge near freezing water from the backflow device, drawing warmer supply water through the valve until closing when the temperature reaches 40°F. It should be installed on the downstream test cock or attached piping of any backflow device, and is best installed in the vertical down position, though horizontal orientation is possible.
